Darkness
When darkness comes to me that day,
In a shadowed valley, far away.
While I'm thinking of the past,
And how I came to end, at last.
I'll listen, in the night so still,
To the calling of a Whip-o-will.
I'll taste the rain upon my tongue,
And see the stars when day is done.
I'll see with longing love, and all.
The rainbow by the water fall,
I'll touch all the things I love,
Given by Him, who reigns above.
And if all my sins my God forgives,
Takes my life and makes it his,
I'll wait Helene, my love, for thee
And hold your hand through eternity
